Why I Love my Farmer's Market and Will Miss it Until Next Summer

The pale specimens at the top of the bowl: good-looking (compared to their peers), on-the-vine supermarket tomatoes, around $2/lb.
The lovely red ones at the bottom: ugly, seconds-for-canning farmer's market tomatoes, 38¢/lb.

And did I mention that the latter are organic?
